Orkney Ferries

You can travel to Orkney by plane and by ferry. A number of ferries operate to the Orkney Islands including Northlink, Pentland ferries and John O'Groats passenger (summer only) ferry. The Shetland ferry from Aberdeen also stops at Kirkwall Orkney.

The Pentland Ferries - ferry operates between Gills Bay in Caithness to St Margaret's Hope on South Ronaldsay which is connected to the Orkney Mainland by the Churchill Barriers. It is a quick ferry trip of around an hour.

Northlnk Ferries operate a number of routes. The Scrabster to Stromness ferry trip is about 1.5 hrs. The ferry has a restaurant and bar.
